The majority of us are used to the age-old two-channel sound. That is, the stereo surround that permits us a left and right speaker effect. Multi-channel surround sound adds a front center speaker between the front left and right speakers and adding another two speakers. Recent advancements of surround sound have seen the addition of even more speakers and side surround speakers to enhance your surround sound field. A sub woofer has also become part of almost all home theater set ups, but the sub woofer is much more a part of the management of the collective speakers than part of the surround sound system itself.
