There are some childhood memories that adults think can’t be topped, and my grandmother’s waffles was one of them. She had this big, clumsy, scorched waffle maker with a frayed cord. It looked terrible, but the waffles were indescribable. It was worth the 40-mile drive as I got older just to eat her waffles. A cousin told me about his Toastmaster waffle maker, and said the waffles were as good as my grandmother’s. Yeah, sure. But, the memories were still fresh, so I visited him for a sample. He was right. All the happy memories that went with the taste of incredible waffles returned (minus the clumsy appliance with the frayed cord). In fact, this waffle maker had automatic temperature control, a non-stick finish, non-slip rubber feet. Those were extras, though. It gave me gigantic, round, plate-sized waffles, which might have even been better than grandma’s. Yum.

I mentioned my ennui to a friend at work, and he suggested several things I could do, but the one that appealed to me the most was to install some decorative ceramic tile.

The nice thing about ceramic tile is that it can go just about anywhere, so I can put it in my kitchen, since that’s where I spend a lot of my time, gourmet cooking being one of my hobbies. Even after choosing a room, I’m still left with choices. Do I use the tile on the floor, or on the countertops, or on the backsplash? This is not going to be an easy decision.

When we make our homes, we should not concentrate on building a huge house with sub-standard materials. When we do that, we shall have to meet recurring expenses because something or the other in the house will keep on failing and we shall keep replacing them and spending on them. Instead, build a small house and ensure that everything is of top quality so that there are no repetitive expenses. Oh, in the days of constant advertising assault by the television and FM, how I used to long for the good old efficient radio! The present day children cannot understand the joy of listening to radio programs. How we would wait the entire day just to be able to listen to our favorite songs or talk show! I was tired of FM radio in our car and would prefer total silence at times. The arrival of Terk satellite radio with antenna facility has made all the difference, and I am back to listening to my fold favorite numbers again. I am truly grateful for this new improvised version called satellite radio!

I often go to an internet café near our neighborhood. The thing that attracted me in this café is the arrangement of the white corner computer desks. They seem to be arranged in an order as if you are in your house. They are totally arranged in random order. It is really amusing. All I need to do is choose wherever that suits me. I can either sit on the floor while working on my laptop on one of those desks or sit on a make-shift sofa in a small cubicle. I always feel relaxed whenever I am in this café. I will surely come back every day and try another sitting position.
