A number of years ago, I made the mistake of buying one of those prefabricated sheds and just putting it on some cinder-blocks. I thought it would be okay for the light use that I would be making of the space, but it wasn’t the best idea. Now however, I am looking to build my own shed, and what I need is some help figuring out the foundation for shed, so that things don’t go badly this time with my extra, outside storage space like what happened last time. Thankfully, there is plenty of information online that is very helpful, so hopefully I’ll be able to do things right the first try.
I have already decided to build my own shed but since I have a very tight budget, I’m gonna make it on my own. Planning proper foundation for your shed can be quite overwhelming, but in the end this is a very enriched experience for me.
The next important item on your list when planning for a proper foundation for your shed is you should be awae and conscious that you are not offending any building codes and upset your local tenants association.
It is important to know that when you are planning for a proper foundation for your shed, it should done correctly, so you can assure that your investment will be sturdier and can stand the test of time.
My structural engineer friend lend an assistance in constructing the shed that I have, and one important thing that he taught me is focusing on the proper foundation for your shed because it will determine how strong your structure is.
I’ve read an article online about having a proper foundation for your shed. And also it helps me decide on what type of foundation I should use in the area that I am in right now.
In our backyard, we have an area leveled with a retaining wall on 3 sides, in order for the 10×12 shed. The total foundation of the shed is around 11 wide or so. The whole area is filled by concrete.
Depending on the area, you\’ll need to make some changes to make sure the area is sturdy and doesn\’t collapse upon itself when you\’re going to building the shed on top of it. I would do some searching on those shed forums you can find.
I would recommend that you go hire a contractor to do that find of work instead of doing it yourself especially if you don\’t know what to do. You\’ll probably save more money allowing someone else doing it than yourself.
