Posted by Jamie,

When choosing luxury bedding for our master bedroom, we decided to do it up nice. We didn’t want any of those cheap sheets that develop balls on them. We went for 400 count luxury sheets and a king size duvet cover for our bed. The duvet cover is very elaborate and has some lovely beading on it. We were able to save some money though, by buying a duvet instead of a comforter. We now have the look of luxury without spending all the money on it. I think if I had to describe it, I’d say the look was a shabby chic one. I love the whole look of our room now.

Oftentimes you need to be careful what you buy when you go for high thread count sheets. If you buy sheets with a thread count much over 400 you will find they’re great in winter, but too hot in summer. The higher the  count the heavier and warmer the sheets become. If your house is naturally hot high count sheets are ok but you may need to throw off your comforter.

My son and his wife have recently moved to a new house and that’s given them the chance to replace some of their bedding to match their new decor. It’s been good for me too as they have given me one of their luxury queen size bedding sets that I really liked.

I quite like the look and feel of cotton for my bed sheets. With fresh cotton sheets I always get the feeling I’m in a fancy hotel as they always seem to use the very best cotton sheets in their hotel rooms. Cotton is a very soft material especially if you go for the more expensive high count Egyptian cotton sheets. They have longer fibres making them really warm and cozy.

Having luxury bedding in the bedroom makes such a difference to the look and feel of the room. I’ve got three sets of bedding for my master bedroom and usually change the look three of four times a year to suit my mood and the season. I also have curtain and mat changes I can make as well allowing me to completely change the look of the room with very little effort.

Having a duvet makes it so easy to make the bed in the morning. All you have to do is straighten the sheet and pull back the duvet and the beds tidy. Even the kids are now into the habit of straightening their beds in the morning. They don’t do it every morning but at least it’s something.

We have duvets all through the house now. I find them very easy to handle and I’ve got a couple that you can split for summer use and then join up again when it’s colder in the winter. I’ve got a couple of covers for each duvet so it’s great to have a change of look in the bedroom by changing the covers regularly.

My mom has just given me some of her best luxury bedding. She bought it only a couple of years ago and has not used it much. It’s all king size bedding and now mom is on her own she’s moved into a twin bed which is much warmer. I’d always admired her bedding so I’m pleased she’s given it to me.

We’ve recently replaced all our bedding in the master bedroom. And, as, we’ve recently retired, we’ve gone for luxury bedding. The quality of the bedding is so good we only hope we live long enough to get our money’s worth. My wife always fancied silk bedding so that’s what we’ve got. We’ve also held onto the old stuff just in case we need something warmer in the winter.
