We’ve all been there… needing a place to store your things while you look for the next place or while the new place is getting ready. It seems like such a simple thing, rent a furniture storage unit, rent a truck, and move your things in for as long as you need. Unfortunately, its not that simple. The first problem encountered is where do you move it, close to where you are living or where you are moving to. The next problem is how big of a unit to move into. For me personally, this is the killer. I always get a unit that is too small. I stack it high up to the ceiling and end up cramming things in at the end, which just gets them broken. Finally, you need to decide how long you will need the unit. Make sure you get a flexible month to month lease and be sure to understand the notice rules before you move your things in.
