Most people like to buy things that are new because it feels safer and there are no problems with errors to fix and parts to change. The highter price one have to pay is on the minus of course. When it comes to buying forklift and pallet trucks, people want to know they get quality equipment and parts. If you for example are planning to use a Clark fork lift truck for a long time you will want to buy one brand new. As always it is often a question about budget if you can do this or not. I’ve been looking for a telescopic forklift for two months now and the market is kind of dead. Not many opportunities in my area. Perhaps it will be better when people get back from their holidays.
I’d love to have a car with the same quality as the forklift trucks we drive at my job. Our machines have been used for years and they have always been handled with a lot of precariousness. Sure they go bust from time to time but Steve can fix them all.
At our company where we have 6 forklift trucks right now the trucks are in such a condition that they are always on top. At most we’ve had one being repaired. They are all 4 to 11 years old! Sure we got to buy a new one day but maintenance is all it takes.
I’d say that the forklift truck owners have to take care of the equipment well. Maintenance is so important to avoid accidents, but of course new trucks are safer. Anyway if we keep them fit they last longer and keep their value.
It’s a good advice to buy new forklifts, if you have the money to spend. Another tips is to give your employees an adequate training! Too many accidents happens because of bad trainig or no training at all.
