A live receptionist is preferable to an automated telephone answering system for the caller, but, the costs to the business owner are higher. There are other advantages to the business as well. The software can be programmed to handle and route calls 24 hours a day. Using a computer already owned by the business, the ongoing costs of maintaining the call answering system are minimal. The business also doesn’t have to hire more staff to answer calls. While callers may not like it as well as a live receptionist, the use of automated systems is becoming so common that they are accustomed to them.
