You can drastically diminish the damage done to your home during a hurricane with hurricane shutters.  They have proven to be very effective against high winds and rain during a storm, protecting your windows and doors and ultimately your possessions.  Don’t think for one moment that taping your windows and doors will help.  If you’ve never expereinced a hurricane before, I can assure you, with winds blowing at minimum 75mph, can blow out your doors windows, and that point, you and your family should’nt even be in the house.  Investing in hurricane shutters will protect you and your loved ones.

Get That Closet Organized

Posted by Pamella,

Cleaning an entire house can seem like a daunting task because it is so large. But many people feel that way about their closets! In fact, in many homes, the closet is the most cluttered area of a house. But organizing a closet isn’t too difficult to da and can usually be accomplished in less than a day. The way to start a project like this is to simply dive in and empty the closet. Take everything out down to the bare walls! And if your closet is anything like the closets in my house that have one closet rod and a wooden shelf, then head over to your local home improvement store and invest in a wire shelving system. These systems organize your closet better allowing you to store more things and still have easy access to it all. And they are easy to install requiring only a few simple hand tools.

Cat Health Insurance for Doc

Posted by Su,

Doc has been my pal for about a year now.  I found him on the side of the road as a little bitty kitten.  He’s not littly bitty anymore.  I took him to the vet to get him his shots and they talked about cat health insurance as a way to help budget for his care. I have looked into it and it seems like a great idea. No more surprises when I take Doc to the vet.  Well, actually , I only had to take him one extra time and that was because he caught his paw in a fishing hook and he was howling so bad, I was afraid to pull it out and not do more damage.

Posted by Librada,

We have been working on a new advertising campaign for our CPA business.  Kind of a thank you to our present customers and a way to let people know we are in town all in one, if that is possible. Outdoor billboard advertising has always been one of our major choices in advertising.  Radio doesn’t seem to work as well. We do a fair amount of website advertising and discounts to our present customers, but it seems the billboard seems to bring in more new customers than anything else we have tried.  I don’t quite understand why, but the major highways on the most transient  traffic gives us our best results.

Energy Saving Radiant Floor Heating Systems

Radiant heating can be used in a variety of floor types including tile, stone, laminate and wood.  It is generally quite simple to install, extremely energy efficient and comes with programmable or non-programmable thermostat options.  Radiant heating works by transferring radiant heat to the flooring in or outside your home.  The heat it then emits can be felt immediately.  Radiant heating is much more energy efficient than baseboard or forced-air heating because no air is lost through a ducting system.  The air is “still” with radiant heat, making allergies much less likely to occur.  Radiant heating can also use a liquid-based system in homes where there is no electricity available.  Radiant floor heating systems come in three types:  radiant air floors, electric radiant floors and hot water radiant floors.  The installation of each type varies and can involve large concrete slab floors or simply a light concrete material over a wooden subfloor.  In other cases, installation may just be a matter of placing radiant floor tubing between layers of plywood or under an already completed floor.  No matter which type you choose, you will find that this is definitely the way to go for a warmer today and hotter tomorrow!

When I first got on the net, I was frankly amazed that such a place even existed.  It seemed like such a fantastic thing to be able to connect to the entire world through a mere phone connection.  I immediately wanted to learn about How To Connect Dial Up Internet.  It turned out to be a lot easier than I imagined it would be.  In fact, when I told my daughter and son that I needed to Connect Dial Up Internet, they told me “well what are you waiting for?”.  After a few explanations, they explained it all to me and soon I was surfing the web!

Did you know that you can get a glass countertop for your kitchen? If you have ever used a glass cutting board, you know what a great surface it can be.  There are lots of options for these kind of countertops. You can even get a counter top made entirely from recycled glass from Vetrazzo.

What is hard water, anyway? Hard water is basically water with a high concentration of minerals. Why is this a problem? For one, the mineral deposits leave unsightly stains on your sinks and even your laundry. Then there is the taste, which can be unpleasant. So, if you have these problems, you might need a water softener system.

I really need some better garden supplies.  Everything I have is old and broken, but by this summer for sure, I am going to get some new equipment.  I could really use a new rototiller.

I hate my feet being cold and I can feel the draft in my house. While I know the many types of insulation can help with my house, a few pairs of socks work for my toes quite nicely.

I give my dog George liquid vitamins and minerals about once a day. O.K., sometimes I forget . But he’s 14 and going strong.  The must be doing something good for him.

After spending all day mowing the lawn with a push mower, some of you might be thinking how nice it would be to have a riding lawn mower.  Many home owners would love to own one, but are put off by the high cost.  Used riding lawn mowers are a great way to cut costs and get the best product for your money. You can often find machines that are in great shape at a fraction of the cost, but stick to the more reliable brands like John Deere, Toro and Honda.  They can greatly cut down on the risks of buying used and eliminate the anxieties you may have.

The many types of insulation that are available makes it hard to find what would be the best for a boken window.  It is a huge window and I can’t afford to replace it right now, but the sash is rotten and I need to do something now.

I don’t know why, but I really want a glass block shower in my bathroom. They are just so cool. I wonder if I can do it myself. It looks pretty simple, just stack up the blocks with some mortar in between. But, like any home project, the devil is in the details. I should probably look around for some fool-proof instructions on how to build one. The trickiest part is probably putting in the floor drain, but I guess I can just buy a prefab shower floor. Maybe I’ll start it next weekend!

Do yourself and your family a favor, and invest in a storage shed unit where you’ll be able to keep all those things you don’t have room for now. With a separate little building on your property, you’ll never have to keep your trash cans outdoors where animals can get into them or wind can blow them away, nor will you have to store such items as bicycles outside where they’ll begin to rust and deteriorate. With a shed, you’ll get a lot of functionality for a very affordable price.
